Our Ministers

Bro. Doug Holtzclaw, Pastor

Bro. Doug was called to the ministry on June 13, 1963 while attending Youth Camp at Glorietta, New Mexico and was ordained in 1967. After graduating from Dumas High School in 1964 he attended Howard Payne College and received his B.A. in 1968. While at college, he was named Mr. HPC in ’68 and is a member of the Howard Payne Sports Hall of Fame. He then went on to earn his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Seminary in 1972. Doug began serving as pastor at First Baptist Church, Goldthwaite in July of 1978. Previous church positions include College Student Pastorate positions at Bluff Dale Baptist Church and Greenwood Baptist Church in Weatherford. He also served as Associate Pastor at Buckner’s Boys Ranch from ’72 to ’74. Doug and his wife Juel Ann were married in 1966 and have three children: Douglas, Brian, and Laurie, and 6 grandchildren: Trey, MaKenzi, Allie, Luke, Landry, Addy. Some of Bro. Doug’s hobbies include: gardening, fishing, cutting firewood and High School football. Favorite Bible Verse: James 4:6-10

 

Butch Foster, Minister of Education

Butch Foster grew up in North Carolina and was called to the ministry in September of 1977. He earned his B.A from Gardner Webb College in 1979 and his Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1981. Butch began serving as Minister of Education at FBC in November of 1981 and was ordained in 1983. He previously served as Minister of Youth at Plaza Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Butch and his wife Carolynn were married in 1974 and have four children: Rachel, Rebekah, Deborah, and Daniel, and one grandchild: Eli. Butch is an announcer at Varsity Football Games and was named Mills County “Citizen of the Year” in 1986. Hobbies and interest include: sports, skiing, racquetball, travel, North Carolina basketball, and spending time with friends and family. Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 4:13

 

Patrick Berg, Minister of Students

Our Ministers of Students came to First Baptist Church in May of 2010 as the newest member of the Ministerial staff. Patrick grew up in Plano, Texas and was called to the ministry when he was 15 years old at a Winter Camp in Southern Colorado. He attended Hardin Simmons University where he received a Bachelor of Behavioral Science/Church Ministry degree and was ordained in 2005 at Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. Patrick married his wife Emily in June of 2006.  His hobbies and interest include: hunting, dog training, fishing, and sitting on the porch with his wife. Favorite Bible Verse: 1 John 4:19
